During the visit of President Rodrigo Duterte in Beijing, China, he mentioned that he will re-open the investigation of the brutal and bloody Mamasapano incident happened last January 2015 that killed 44 members of the elite PNP-Special Action Force.

Duterte is wondering who got the $5-million reward for killing the terrorist Zulkifli Bin Hir, also known as Marwan.

It was United States who offered the bounty for Marwan, the head of Malaysian terrorist which had a bounty of $5-million and was killed by the SAF commandos. "Forty-four Mamasapano soldiers, they went inside, they died. No dramatics, no nothing. No ... except that we grieve for our soldiers. Maybe in this --- in the days ahead, I will order the opening of that issue again. Not really to prosecute people but just to know what happened? Who got the five million?" Duterte said. "Whether the tip of the finger of Marwan was gotten by the Special Forces of United States or was it really brought to the forensic division diyan sa [Camp] Crame," he added.

Duterte also said that some of the information on Marwan's death were lies.

"These are the lies that are imposed upon the people which is not good. Let us go for the truth. Let it out. Never mind about corruption. Too late in the day," the President said. President Duterte already raised the issue of greed as motivation for the operation of SAF commandos last August 10, and the incident was a sad consequence for getting the reward for Marwan.

"Katong sa Mamasapano, it was a question of greed [What happened in Mindanao, it was a question of greed]," Duterte said, claiming that the SAF troops were directed by someone who was after the bounty.

Duterte also promised law enforcers that there will not be another Mamasapano incident during his term.

"These are the things na dili mahitabo sa akong panahon. Dili ko musugot anang tinorpe na desisyon. It's very stupid. Maasahan na nila iyan. Dili ko musugot ug in-ana [These are the things that will not happen during my time. I will not allow another clumsy decision. It's very stupid. You can count on me. I will not allow it to happen]." Duterte said.
