Trillanes – No regrets turning off Cayetano’s mic
“Hindi po (ako nagsisisi). Kasi ganito po ang konteksto niyan eh. Nagiging out of order na siya… Kailangan kong gawin ‘yon para hindi sila nagsasabayan ni Sen. De Lima,” Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV said on Friday. Trillanes insisted that Cayetano was being hard on the witness presented by De Lima—Edgar Matobato, an alleged ex-Davao Death Squad member who confessed to the crimes of killing people as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte when he was the mayor of Davao City.
“Bina-batter lang niya ‘yung witness,” Trillanes said. Furthermore, he claimed that Cayetano made sure to bombard the witness for his agenda. “Alam ko yung intention niya. Gusto niyang ikonsumo yung oras ng committee… para malihis ang tension.” His inquiries lasted for an hour, Trillanes said.
Meanwhile, the senator believes that Matobato is a credible witness. “Sa kabuuan ng testimonya niya, credible siya at kapani-paniwala.” However, he thinks that Matobato should be validated.
The witness alleged Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte as the one who ordered the murder of billionaire Richard King, but it was quickly refuted by Duterte who said that it was “mere hearsay.”
