GOOD NEWS! Pres. Duterte Readies 14 Train Projects Valued at P1.07 Trillion to Boost Philippine Infra System

The P1-trillion nationwide pipeline of railway projects will be located in different parts of the Philippines but most of them will be located in the main island of Luzon. The other railway projects will be constructed in the island of Cebu and Mindanao.

Under the administration of the first Philippine President from Mindanao, they committed to "redouble" infrastructure improvement as the government plans to roll out five more road maps aimed at sustaining economic development, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia said.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) under the leadership of Sec. Art Tugade submitted a 64-page document to Sen. Grace Poe, who is heading the committee on public services, in line with the government's request for special powers to combat the traffic crisis in Metro Manila.

Some of the major infrastructure projects under the Duterte administration are the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 Extension to Cavite and capacity expansion at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3. These two projects have been bid out by the Aquino administration but they failed to implement the project.

Included in the P1-Trillion railway projects of Pres. Duterte is the proposed 14-kilometer subway line linking business districts in Metro Manila which is targeted to be finished before the end of the Duterte administration. The subway project is considered as the single-biggest componenet on the list which costs around P219 billion.

Out of the 14 train projects included in the P1-Trillion infrastructure project of Pres. Duterte, 11 are located in Luzon while the rest will be located in Visayas and Mindanao.
