Ano daw? Trillanes to fellow Senators: Grade 1 lang kaya nyo
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said self-confessed Davao Death Squad hitman Edgar Matobato was able to hold himself well in the face of badgering by senators led by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
“The inconsistencies, if any, were trivial as shown by the transcript. And, despite the badgering, Matobato was consistent about the events and other details he was sure about,” said Trillanes in a statement.
Matobato submitted himself to the mercy of Cayetano and senators without a lawyer by his side (the Senate appointed one to sit beside him) for hours of grilling last Thursday, just three days after her biggest supporter, Sen. Leila de Lima, was kicked out as chair of the committee on justice and human rights.
“But I must admit, there was a language barrier and a few of my colleagues took advantage of that. Napakita nila na mas magaling sila sa grade one,” said Trillanes.
Despite claims by Cayetano that he was reached high school, Matobato insisted that he only reached grade one.
Matobato cried when he revealed that his only reason for joining the hit squad allegedly formed by President Rodrigo Duterte in his first year as Davao City mayor to give justice to his father who was decapitated by communist rebels in 1977. He said he was ordered to kill hundreds of people only to end up as the target himself because he knew too much from Duterte’s dark past.
