Police to expose cops, pols on Kerwin Espinosa's 'payola' list
The police in Albuera, Leyte, will quickly release the list of personalities who supposedly received millions of pesos in payoffs from suspected drug lord Kerwin Espinosa, an exclusive report by GMA News' Katrina Son on "24 Oras" mentioned Friday. The report stated the payoffs, offered to police officials and politicians, had been in exchange for protection for Espinosa' illegal activities.
The names have been culled in the checks seized by the police from a raid in Espinosa's home. The checks will likely be looked into by the Espinosa family's bookkeeper for confirmation ahead of the police could reveal the names of its recipients. Apart from cash, Espinido stated some police officials and politicians received automobiles from Espinosa as bribes.
He also stated that with all the sturdy proof against them, these who benefitted from Espinosa's alleged illegal activities are much better of committing "suicide."
Kerwin, who has fled the nation but has reportedly expressed his intention to surrender, would be the son of Roland Espinosa Sr., the incumbent mayor of Albuera town. Each have already been identified by President Rodrigo Duterte as becoming involved inside the illegal drug trade. The elder Espinosa has considering that surrendered to authorities and is now facing charges.
