MUST READ: Mayor Espinosa declares ex-DOJ chief is one of son Kerwin’s contacts in drug trade
Does Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa hold the smoking gun against Senator Leila de Lima? The evidence implicating De Lima in the illegal drug trade may be in Espinosa’s hands— in particular, in his affidavit naming some 30 individuals who are allegedly his son, Kerwin’s, cohorts.
Kerwin is known as one of the drug lords in the Eastern Visayas region. A report aired on GMA News’ “24 Oras” Tuesday night (Aug. 30) showed Espinosa revealing the affiliations of his son’s supposed cohorts in the illegal drug business.

“May mga members sa PNP… may members ng Kongreso,” he said. Asked if a senator is also included in his affidavit, Espinosa slightly nodded. Albuera chief of police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, who claimed seeing the ledger that was the basis of Espinosa’s affidavit, confirmed that a senator was named as among Kerwin’s cohorts.
“May senador nga. May senador (na) isa, nakita ko. Dating secretary ng DOJ siguro yun… Nakita ko lang,” Espenido said. President Rodrigo Duterte, who exposed De Lima’s alleged links to the illegal drug trade, has vowed to present evidence showing her to be in cahoots with drug lords. The senator has repeatedly denied Duterte’s allegations.
