According to the proposed General Appropriations Act (GAA) for 2017, Robredo’s travel allowance has been slashed to P37 million from the nearly P60 million allotted for this year.
The budget for the Office of the Vice President has likewise been slashed from P500 million to P428 for next year. In his column posted on Interaksyon.com, Vic San Agustin quoted Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno as saying that Robredo was “very happy” even with the budget cut since the appropriations for two of the agencies she is overseeing as housing czar will be increased.

It appears, however, that Robredo is only taking consolation in the small things since Agustin’s math showed that the combined budgets of Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) and Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) will increase by a paltry P59 million for 2017.
