Duterte wants De Lima to throw her in jail because he can’t shut her down
President Rodrigo Duterte is just getting started in his supposed bid to destroy Senator Leila de Lima by calling her names in public and insulting her.
De Lima herself believes the President wants to see her in jail next as she appears firm in her resolve to investigate the spate of drug-related killings that has occurred under his administration.
In a press conference at the Senate Thursday (August 18), the senator said she is aware that cases are being built up against her.
Even before the President hurled scathing remarks at her, De Lima said she has received information that evidences are being fabricated against her. She said she has also received a warning that her reputation will be smeared if she does not stop criticizing Duterte.
Speaking before police officials Wednesday (August 17), the President accused a senator of involvement in the illegal drug trade, with the money she allegedly received going to the construction of her lover-cum-driver’s house. He later identified the lawmaker as De Lima.
