Duterte to reassign corrupt LTO, LTFRB officials to Jolo
Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board Chair Martin Delgra III and Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Edgar Galvante were ordered by President Duterte to report to his office on Monday to explain why they have failed to address corruption issues within their offices.
Duterte said he was disappointed upon learning from his provincial visits that corruption remains prevalent in regulatory offices, particularly the LTFRB and the LTO.
“You know why, until now, in my provincial visits—corruption especially in the regulatory agency. I would like to point out one in the LTFRB…I forgot his name, but come to me and see me in Malacanang. LTO, consider your positions vacant…
“All of you, consider yourself in the crucible of the truth about corruption,” he said.
“LTO, regulatory bodies, be prepared to be assigned in Jolo and in Basilan. You will deserve the ambiance enjoy the environment, you have only yourself to blame for being corrupt,” he added.
This prompted the President to deem as resigned all presidential appointees, declaring their seats vacant by Monday, Aug. 22, 2016.
