Duterte to meet with Misuari by early 2017
President Rodrigo Duterte stated he would meet with Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) chairman Nur Misuari early 2017 rather soon after they failed to meet in Jolo, Sulu on Friday.
“I will meet Misuari for positive kasi pagkatapos ng panel-panel (simply because soon after the peace talks), it goes as much as us. Kami na ang mag-usap. O pare, okay na ba ito (We would then speak. Brother, is this all proper)?” Duterte mentioned for the duration of a speech at Camp Teodulfo Bautista in Jolo, Sulu. The President stated he hoped to personally talked to Misuari subsequent year.
“Hopefully, subsequent year,” he stated, adding that his meeting with Misuari could hasten the achievement of peace in Mindanao. “When I shall have met Misuari, I believe there’s a greater opportunity,” he added.
Duterte has earlier mentioned that he would give Misuari, who's a fugitive wanted for rebellion, a secure conduct pass. “If we wouldn't get to speak, how can we repair these factors?” he mentioned Duterte mentioned his job as a President was “to seek peace not war.”
