DOJ accused Chinese national arrested in P100-M Pmapanga shabu raid
MANILA - The Department of Justice (DOJ) has indicted a Chinese national for illegal possession of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of equipment, instrument, apparatus, and other paraphernalia for dangerous drugs.
Yiye Chen was arrested in a drug raid in Pampanga on August 5, 2016. About P100 million worth of suspected shabu was seized. In a seven-page resolution penned by Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Juan Pedro C. Navera and Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Miguel F. Gudio Jr., and approved by Prosecutor General Claro Arellano, the Justice Department found probable cause to file appropriate charges against Chen before the Regional Trial Court in Angeles City.
Chen, said to be a member of a transnational drug syndicate, was arrested in Angeles City in a joint raid conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Police Regional Office-3 on the strength of a search warrant issued by Quezon City RTC First Vice Executive Judge Bernelito Fernandez.
No bail was recommended for Chen.
