De Lima to Duterte: “I hope you grant me what the law and Constitution has grated to anybody accused in a legal system,”
Sen. Leila de Lima has challenged President Rodrigo Duterte to fight fair and not use his immunity from lawsuit as a shield to destroy her reputation in public.
“I hope you give me the chance to defend myself specially in my situation where the President himself declared that he is my enemy and has personally made accusations against me. You are the president, I am just a senator. All I ask for is a fair fight,” said de Lima.
“I hope you grant me what the law and Constitution has grated to anybody accused in a legal system,” said de Lima.
“How does one defend oneself when the attacker is immune from suit and has all the backing of executive power to support him in his personal attack?” asked de Lima.
She called Duterte’s tactics as “no less an abuse and misuse of power on such scale as it assumes every President to conduct himself in a manner befitting the office he holds.”
