SAF commandos start taking posts at NBP

Members from the PNP Specific Action Force have began for taking their posts at the New Bilibid Prison, Emil Sumangil reported on "24 Oras" on Tuesday.

SAF commandos have not been authorized to dicuss in front of the camera but some officers told GMA News that far more SAF members are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday evening with time for a "turnover ceremony on Wednesday morning."

Each Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre and PNP chief Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa have earlier discussed the posting of SAF commandos at the penitentiary to discourage criminal activity and particular accommodations for specific inmates. The move was welcomed through the Monsignor Roberto Olaguer, chaplain on the NBP.

"Kung ito makakadagdag sa safety aspect ng pagbabantay ng Bureau of Corrections, maganda. Alam naman natin na bakit marami pa rin nakakapasok na illegal items dito," Olaguer stated.

Even jail guards welcomed the presence in the elite policemen. "Lalong maganda kasi masaya, marami kami rito," JO2 Apolinario Manto said. "Katulong sila, katulong kami. Sama-sama kami," he added.
